ABOUT THE AUTHOR - CAROLYN GOSSAGE

Carolyn Gossage

I was born and grew up in Toronto. As an only child, the allure of books and writing claimed me as an early victim. After studying French and German, I spent a year at the Sorbonne in Paris before returning to Toronto to teach English and History at Canada’s National Ballet School.

In 1990, while continuing to write, I began working for various film productions, including Road to Avonlea.

To coincide with the Millenium, I was the collaborative author of a major art history publication on Ethiopian Icons published by Skira in Milan, and in 2001 a revised and expanded edition of Greatcoats and Glamour Boots was published by Dundurn Press. 

My on-going interest in Ethiopia led to a book on Ethiopian Crosses published in 2006, and the same year saw the publication of Forgotten Graces - The Travel Sketchbooks of a Victorian Gentlewoman in conjunction with The Varley Gallery.

In October 2007, my translation from German of the 600-year history of the Frankfurt Book Fair was launched in Frankfurt. Two years later, Auf Irrfahrt - the German translation of Accidental Captives: The Story of Seven Women Alone in Nazi Germany was released by Christoph Links Verlag of Berlin. Published in English by I. B. Tauris of London and Dundurn Press, Toronto.
